If the mirror scares you every time you look into it, then it���s time to put on your sports shoes and head to the gym for a morning walk.A recent global survey has revealed that more than half the people who set out to exercise end up missing their exercise goals, because they never keep their date with the gym.

Gym instructor Nikunj Rayani says, ���Today���s lifestyle and food habits call for regular exercise. We have many customers who pay an annual fee but never turn up even for a day. Professionals have a tendency to skip workouts. Nearly 25 per cent of our customers are very irregular.��� In fact, the influence of celebrities has made people like or dislike their bodies and hence they desire for a well-toned body. In order to get the right look immediately, people, especially youngsters, either start taking steroids or starve to lose weight.���A size-zero figure doesn���t necessarily mean a healthy body. Only daily exercise can ensure that. For every age group there are different sets of exercises that help staying in shape and good health.���Morning meetings, never-ending assignments, deadly deadlines comprise ���the��� daily routine of professionals. For a lot of them, a stress-free life means hanging outat discs, enjoying a meal with friends, while some prefer to chill out at home. Aakash Sharma, an engineer, says, ���One can���t be on one���s toes all the time. It���s very difficult to follow a strict exercise routine with a hectic work schedule. I prefer to sleep rather than wake up early in the morning for a workout.��� However, Jignesh Dutta, a pharma professional, tries to do his ���best��� when it comes to exercise. He says: ���I do skipping for 10-15 minutes everyday but am very irregular at exercising. I joined a gym too but just couldn���t spare time to go there.��� While a handful of people are trying to balance their professional and personal lives, next on their agenda it seems is to try even harder to stay fit. Sita Iyer, research executive, says, ���I make it a point to walk daily for nearly 30 minutes. When it comes to diet, I can���t resist food. Our jobs make us sit for long hours, and add to that consumption of junk food. Sometimes, one has to be really disciplined to bring in certain changes in life.��� Ideally, to stay healthy and fit, one should do at least 30 minutes moderate activity for five days a week or 20 minutes of vigorous activity thrice a week. But, there are very few who meet this goal. Fashion consultant Umang Hutheesing says, ���To me, fitness means a healthy and moving body. It has become a ritual do stretching, aerobics and pranayam for half and an hour daily.��� In order to stay in ship shape pay close attention to your physical exercise routine. It���s likely to help you live a heartier, healthier and longer life.
